【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoversthefabricationandclosureofemptyandfullwood-cleated,hereafterreferredtoaswood-cleated,panelboardboxes.Theseboxesareintendedforuseascontainersfordomesticandoverseasshipmentofgeneralmaterialsandsupplies,notexceeding1000lb[454kg]dependingonboxtype(see10.1).1.2Wood-cleatedpanelboardshippingboxperformanceisdependentonitsfabricatedcomponentsandsubsequentassembly;therefore,avarietyoftypes,classes,styles,andtreatmentsreflectingvariedperformancearespecified.Thisspecification,however,doesnotcoverwood-cleatedpanelboardboxperformanceunderallatmospheric,handling,shipping,andstorageconditions.1.3Iftheuseofotherconstructionmethodsortechniquesisacceptableandpermitted(see5.1.17),theresultingpackagingsystemsshallbeofequalorbetterperformancethanwouldresultfromtheuseofthesespecifiedmaterialsandprocedures.Theappropriatedistributioncycle,specifiedinPracticeD4169,canbeusedtodevelopcomparativeproceduresandcriteria.1.4Thevaluesstatedineitherinch-poundunitsorSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Withinthetext,theSIunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnonconformancewiththestandard.SeeIEEE/ASTMSI10forconversionofunits.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthestandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
